Hondo Island Adventure Tour

Description

Join the R.A.S. Island Adventure Tour as we travel to the southwestern most part of Korea to Mokpo. From Mokpo, we will part with mainland Korea, visiting Huksan do (Black Mountain Island), and Hong do (Red Rock Island), famous for the pink hues of its rocks and for the imposing contorted rock formations that line its coast. Our reasons for dubbing this an “adventure tour” are twofold: the remoteness of the islands makes them relatively primitive when it comes to first class tourist accommodations and travel, and also because of the exciting discoveries to be made and the adventurous fun we will have.

We plan to leave Friday at 6:00 p.m. from the YONGSAN POST OFFICE, heading for the port city of Mokpo in Cholla namdo (about a four and half hour ride down through new west coast highway) where we will stay overnight at the Motel nearby the boat terminal. Saturday morning after breakfast, we will go to the port terminal to board our hydrofoil (a very comfortable boat on which to travel), which departs at 8:00 a.m. for Hong-do. On the boat you can relax and enjoy this beautiful 2 1/2-hour trip through the many islands which dot this area of the Yellow Sea.
